English to Portuguese: Square Enix Says It's Not for Sale After Acquisition Rumours /Após rumores de uma possível aquisição, Square Enix diz que não está à venda Detailed field: Gaming/Video-games/E-sports
Source text - English "We do not consider selling off the company or any part of its businesses, nor have we received any offer from any third party."
By Joe Skrebels
Square Enix has said that it will not consider selling the company, and has not received any offers after a report claimed 'multiple' potential buyers were interested in an acquisition.
CTFN reported that two bankers had indicated that several potential buyers were interested in purchasing the developer/publisher behind Final Fantasy and Outriders.
Bloomberg Japan then reported the news, which led Square Enix to respond.
"Bloomberg has reported today that there is interest from several buyers to acquire Square Enix," reads a press release.
"However, this report is not based on any announcement by Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. We do not consider selling off the company or any part of its businesses, nor have we received any offer from any third party to acquire the company or any part of its businesses."
It is of course possible that both sides of this story are true – there may well be parties interested in Square Enix, and Square Enix itself might be unwilling to sell to them. That said, analyst David Gibson pointed to the idea that this could be bankers trying to "drum up business" in Square Enix.
To back up Gibson's idea, Bloomberg subsequently reported that shares in Square Enix rose by 12% after the report went out – their highest rise in eight months.
Video game acquisitions have been big business recently, with the last year alone seeing Microsoft buying ZeniMax Media for $7.5 billion, Epic Games buying Mediatonic (Fall Guys), and EA snapping up Codemasters after Take-Two showed an interest.
Japan has been seen as a natural next step for some major gaming companies, with Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently shooting down the idea that Microsoft was in contact with a number of developers in the country about potential acquisitions.
On the other hand, Sony has had to counter the idea that the company is sidelining Japan, but we've seen the company's storied Japan Studio re-organized this year, leading to a mass exodus of developers.

Duh duh! Duh duh!

English to Portuguese: Helium supply crunch looms as US alters storage strategy / Crise no fornecimento de gás hélio se aproxima à medida que os EUA alteram a estratégia de armazenamento Detailed field: Petroleum Eng/Sci

A vital helium reserve in the US that supplies the global market will stop selling to the public in September 2022, threatening a supply crunch.
The US government has owned up to 1bn cubic meters of helium gas in a Federal Helium Reserve (FHR) – managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) – since 1925. It is now disposing of its remaining helium and assets by transfer to other federal bodies and public sales.
The end of public sales in September, alongside major incidents at a helium factory in Russia – a key supplier – and tensions with Ukraine, mean prices are expected to skyrocket.
Tom Kool, head of operations at price-tracking website Oilprice, said: “A helium supply crunch may be growing more critical with each passing day… The world is quickly coming to grips with one of the biggest supply squeezes of our times.”
Helium gas prices have risen dramatically since 2019, when the US government sold at a rate of $280 per million cubic feet (Mcf). Now that figure has more than doubled, selling for up to $600/Mcf.
The US produces 40% of the world’s helium supply, with the majority coming from the FHR. The FHR has reserved all helium found on federal land since 1925, and purchased crude helium extracted by natural gas producers for storage at its facility in Amarillo, Texas. This purchasing policy accumulated 1bn cubic meters of helium by 1995 and led to the reserve being $1.4bn in debt.
The FHR is currently the only helium storage facility in the world and has sold crude helium to private companies since 1996, often at below-market prices, in order to clear the debt.
The FHR was established to provide gas for airships and in the 1950s supplied the government with coolant for the Cold War and Space Race.
William Perry Pendley, deputy director for policy and programs at the BLM, said in 2020: “Now it is time for the US government to remove itself from the helium business, and allow the private sector to further develop this industry to meet the supply needs of the United States, creating a sustainable economic model and jobs for Americans.”
As the disposal deadline approaches, however, other global issues are forcing helium prices higher. A fire and an explosion at one of the world’s largest natural gas processing facilities in Amur, Russia, means helium production at the facility will stop for at least six months.
Ongoing tensions with Ukraine are also likely to impact Russian production, which is the fifth largest helium producer in the world, according to the US Geological Survey.
Phil Kornbluth, president of Kornbluth Helium Consulting, called the helium supply chain ‘complex’ and ‘highly unpredictable’ in an article for Gasworld in January.
Concerning the Amur explosion, he said: “Helium markets are now likely to remain tight throughout 2022, with the transition to plentiful supply pushed out by at least one year to 2023.”
Helium is mostly used for its cooling properties, for example in MRIs, but also plays a significant role in producing hard disk drives and semiconductor chips.

Embora não altere a evolução da doença, é importante manter a prática de exercícios físicos, pois eles podem fortalecer os ossos, melhorar o humor, ajudar no controle do peso e contra sintomas como a fadiga;
Quando os movimentos estão comprometidos, a fisioterapia ajuda a reformular o ato motor, dando ênfase à contração dos músculos ainda preservados;
O tratamento fisioterápico associado a determinados remédios ajuda também a reeducar o controle dos esfíncteres;

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease, probably autoimmune. For genetic or environmental reasons, in multiple sclerosis, the immune system begins to attack the myelin sheath (cover that surrounds all axons) that covers the neurons and this compromises the function of the nervous system. The most important characteristic of multiple sclerosis is the unpredictability of flare-ups.
In general, the disease affects young people, between 20 and 30 years old, and causes motor and sensory difficulties.
The causes of the disease are not yet known. It is known, however, that its evolution differs from one person to another, and that it is more common in women and white-skinned individuals living in temperate zones.
The diagnosis is basically clinical, complemented by imaging tests, for example, magnetic resonance imaging.
Multiple sclerosis symptoms
The initial stage of multiple sclerosis is quite subtle. Symptoms are transient, can occur at any time, and last approximately one week.
Such characteristics mean that the patient does not give the due importance to the first manifestations of the disease that is relapsing-remitting, that is, the symptoms come and go regardless of treatment.
The patient may spend two or three years experiencing mild sensory symptoms, slight blurring of vision or minor changes in urine control without paying attention to these signs because after a few days they disappear. With the evolution of the condition, sensory, motor and cerebellar symptoms of greater magnitude appears, represented by weakness, numbness or tingling in the legs or on one side of the body, diplopia (double vision) or prolonged visual loss, imbalance, tremor and lack of control of the sphincters.
Multiple sclerosis treatment
Once the diagnosis is confirmed, the treatment has two main objectives: to shorten the acute phase and to try to increase the intermittence between one outbreak and another. In the first case, corticosteroids are useful drugs to reduce the intensity of outbreaks. In the second, immunosuppressants and immunomodulators help to space out the episodes of recurrence and the negative impact they have on the lives of patients with multiple sclerosis, since it is almost impossible to eliminate them with current treatments.
Recommendations:
Although it doesn't alter the evolution of the disease, it is important to maintain the practice of physical exercises, as they can strengthen the bones, improve mood, help in weight control and against symptoms such as fatigue;
When movements are compromised, physical therapy helps to reformulate the motor act, emphasizing the contraction of the still preserved muscles;
Physical therapy associated with certain medicines also helps to re-educate the control of the sphincters;
During acute attacks of the disease, it is advisable for the patient to remain at rest.
Frequently asked questions about multiple sclerosis
Is it possible to lead a normal life having the disease?
With the right treatment, the patient can go long periods without outbreaks and have an active routine and quality of life. To achieve this, it is very important to obtain the diagnosis quickly, because the earlier you start treatment, the better. Therefore, as soon as you notice symptoms, it is important not to “let go” just because they have disappeared. Ideally, you should see a neurologist to investigate the problem.
How to differentiate the symptoms of multiple sclerosis from other diseases?
Symptoms of the disease are common in other neurological problems. But in the case of sclerosis, there is a specific characteristic that is the way these symptoms evolve. They do not appear suddenly, as occurs in cases of stroke, for example, but appear gradually and reach their maximum intensity in up to four weeks. Then they disappear. These are called flare-ups.
What is a multiple sclerosis flare-up?
The disease flare-ups are inflammatory crises that, by attacking the myelin sheath, bring the symptoms. This inflammation usually lasts a few weeks and then disappears.
Can multiple sclerosis leave sequelae?
In the initial phase of the disease, the flare-ups can disappear without causing definitive damage, so that the improvement is complete. However, around four years after diagnosis, the outbreaks can leave permanent sequelae. It is common, for example, for patients to start using a cane around 15 years after diagnosis.
Can I donate blood, even with multiple sclerosis?
No. The disease is not transmissible, but because its cause is still unknown, blood banks have made it a norm not to collect blood from these patients.
Can women with multiple sclerosis get pregnant?
Patients with multiple sclerosis may become pregnant normally, but it may be necessary to discontinue medication during pregnancy. The ideal is to align everything with the neurologist responsible for the case. Pregnancy even reduces the frequency of flare-ups and inflammations. In the postpartum period, there are still restrictions on medications. When the woman returns to take the medicines, she cannot breastfeed, as it is not yet known to what extent they can pass into the milk.

In 2022, Samsung's line-up has as its main attraction the Neo QLED QN90B, a TV with 4K resolution and Mini led technology that aims to conquer the gamer audience. Samsung has provided The Enemy with a 50-inch model of the new TV that, as a differential, has features such as variable refresh rate up to 144 Hz, HDMI 2.1 ports, Xbox app and more.
Overall, the Neo QLED QN90B is a TV with great image quality. Therefore, it's great not only for games, but it works well for most uses, like watching movies, shows, and more.
The device is available in sizes of 43, 50, 55 and 65 inches. All of them are formed by an LCD panel with a grid of Mini LEDs, capable of delivering 100% color volume with quantum dots. Thus, in addition to being reproduced in high resolution, the images gain considerable brightness, fidelity in contrasts and intense colors.
During the tests, the difference in how vibrant and clear the image became when playing Elden Ring using the TV was clear. The battle with Mohg, for example, gained more striking red tones for the boss's blows – and that occurred even though mirroring the PC on the screen.
Another important TV feature is automatic low latency mode (ALLM) and variable refresh rate (VRR), which provide low playback latency and avoids problems such as crashing and screen tearing. Gamers looking for these features to play on their next-generation consoles, such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, are both guaranteed by their TV.
The TV also has elements that make the brightness constant. This is the case of the full-array local dimming (FALD), which guarantees the lighting on and turning off of the LEDs in independent zones, and the adaptive HDR, which maintains the light of the screen according to the brightness of the environment. During the tests, for example, it was possible to prove that the image remains bright even against the sunlight at dusk.
System and sound
Neo QLED QN90B is formed by a new version of the Tizen system, which is intuitive and easy to use. After setting up the TV with Samsung's SmartThings step-by-step, the interface already shows the list of apps – which already comes with some of the most used pre-installed, such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, YouTube and Globoplay.
Regarding the sound, the speakers are located on the back of the TV, ensuring that the audio has greater range in the environment. As a differential, the new Neo QLED model has integrated sound with Dolby Atmos, codec capable of playing up to 128 audio channels and 40 watts of power. Even though it is not the best sound performance available on the market, it is still a good model for common use.
Advantages for those who play
Like previous models, Neo QLED QN90B bets on winning over the gamer audience. An example of this is the four HDMI ports arranged on the right side of the TV, all 2.1. The differential of this type of input is that it ensures superior resolution and high frame rates for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, making it an attraction for new-generation console owners.
We advise players to invest in QN90B 43-inch or 50-inch models, as they have a variable refresh rate of up to 144Hz. The 55-inch and 65-inch versions, on the other hand, reach the 120Hz limit.
Other advantages for those who play are the Neo Quantum 4K processor, which plays Full HD content in up to 4K resolution, FreeSync Premium Pro support, which promises stable, HDR-enabled gaming, and ultrawide display, which adjusts the video format to 21:9 or 32:9.
In addition, like the previous models, the device includes the Game Boost imaging and sound system, capable of identifying and adapting to the different circumstances and data of each game.
Xbox app
During our stay with the device, The Enemy could test the new Xbox app, a Samsung TV exclusivity from 2022 onwards. With the app, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can access the catalog and play directly from the cloud.
We were able to test the app by playing high-resolution graphic titles such as Forza Horizon 5, and indie games that require less from the processor such as Tunic and Pupperazzi. It is noteworthy that the application does not take full advantage of the TV's image potential, since cloud games, of course, have their resolution compromised by the network connection. Still, the novelty is attractive because of the important advantage of not needing a console to play, being possible to do it directly on TV with just a few clicks of the remote control.
Speaking of which, pairing with video game control via bluetooth is easy and intuitive, since the app provides a step-by-step how to do it. In addition, it is also possible to play with the controller connected directly to the TV by a USB cable.
Conclusion
The Neo QLED QN90B is a TV with high image quality and satisfactory performance for everyday use, but it is attractive mainly for those who play, due to the amount of resources available.
The device arrives in the Brazilian market with a salty price – the suggested price of the 50-inch version, for example, is R$6,174.05 –, but, in case you have the necessary resources, it is a good investment, especially for the owners of consoles of new generation. It's also a good choice for those who need a TV and want to play the latest releases without having a console at home due to the Xbox app.
Portuguese to English: Presidente do Atlético cobra explicações de Daronco após relato de Hulk / Atlético Mineiro President charges explanations from Daronco after Hulk's report Detailed field: Sports / Fitness / Recreation

Hulk's statement on the guidance of referee Anderson Daronco to be careful with words in the interview after Atlético’s tie with São Paulo, in Mineirão Stadium, had great repercussions. Atlético Mineiro President, Sérgio Coelho, said that before taking any position, he wants to hear the whistle owner.
"We have to take a position in a quiet way. We can't judge. We need to listen to Daronco first. Furthermore, we're thinking, along with our legal team, which way we should go", said Sérgio Coelho, in an interview with ESPN, completing.
"It's up to Daronco to go public and say what was his intention, what tone he wanted to give to this phrase he used."
The Atlético President said he sees Daronco as a serious and correct referee. He also says that Hulk has the same qualities. Sérgio Coelho says he trusts what the forward said in the Mineirão Stadium mixed zone.
"Daronco is one of the great referees of Brazilian soccer, he is a person that we know as a very serious and correct referee. But Hulk is also a very serious and upright person. For Hulk to have stated it, it's because Daronco really said that to him."
Hulk x Daronco
According to the Atlético Mineiro idol, the referee of the match instructed him to be careful with the words in the post-game interviews.
"What surprised me the most, in the end, was Daronco coming to me and saying: 'Be careful what you say out there. It depends on each one interpretation. I won't judge. I swore on my four children, which are the most important thing in my life. He came to me and said, 'Be careful what you say after the game.' I said, 'Daronco, I'm a man, what I'm going to say, I'm going to take over,' reported Hulk, completing.
"He said, 'All right, this is not the last game with you I'm gonna whistle."
Hulk's complaint was in the final stretch of the match. The player charged the owner of the whistle to check on VAR (Video Assistant Referee) a possible penalty for Atlético. For the player, the move involving the back Miranda was a foul.
The detail is that Daronco wasn't called to the VAR cabin to evaluate the move. This leads to believe that the video referee understood the move as normal.
Hulk says he doesn't know if there's still some mood for Daronco to keep whistling Atlético games. He says if the referee wants to show up, he should do his job well for recognition.
"I don't know (if there's some mood for him to keep whistling Atlético’s matches). Human beings make mistakes all the time. Our margin of agreement is 5%, 10%. We do wrong more than we do right. If he's wrong, it's part of it. Whether it's ill-intended or not, I don't know. I don't know if I'm being chased. There are situations in which the referee can make a decision or another. We respect it, we know it's not easy. We, who are players, precipitate and take the wrong decision. He came to me and said: 'I whistled two of your games and you were champions'. I said, 'Our merit and the blessing of God that made us win.'
Hulk continued: "Now, Daronco, I don't know what happens to you. If you want to show up, do your job well, and you'll show up much more. But whether it's a feud or not, I don't know'. That was the conversation I had with him. I'm leaving here, once again, making it very clear, on my four children. He came to me and spoke. 'Be careful what you say after the game.' Whether it is a threat or not, ask him", completed the player.

Translation - English Taika Waititi favors humor and aesthetics in the hero's fourth film at MCU

Some more than frequent reviews of Marvel films talk about the standard look, poorly elaborated villains and underdeveloped female characters. The newest chapter in the heroes' saga, Thor: Love and Thunder does everything to get away from these traditions, and when it comes to aesthetics, villain and heroine, the new Taika Waititi movie is perfect. It is a pity, however, that it has made such an unbalanced choice.
It is a movement that makes a lot of sense, not only because it is aligned with the current moment of the MCU – one that seeks, with each new production, to correct some mistake of its past -, but for completing a journey that started in Thor: Ragnarök and worked so well. Quoted frequently as one of the best works of the House of Ideas, Ragnarök brought light and color to Marvel Studios, a more authorial effort, a good villain and the promise of a much more interesting female figure to the universe, in the introduction of Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie. And while Love and Thunder intends to carry this forward, its stumbling is in the lack of something so important that it walked side by side with Waititi's characteristic humor in its predecessor: a good plot development.
It's not that the new Thunder God movie doesn't have a good story in hand: it's a great premise Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) returns as the Mighty Thor, a persona who saves (temporarily) the scientist from her already advanced cancer, to help Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Korg (Waititi) and Valkyrie eliminate Gorr (Christian Bale) and his threat to assassinate all the gods. And it is not even that Love and Thunder slips in the establishment of this idea. It turns out there's little interest in telling a story here. The order of events is so accelerated, and so much more supported by humor, music and aesthetics, that Waititi's endeavor leaves behind the complexity of his characters, resulting in a lack of emotional strength for all arcs – but mainly that of the protagonist himself.
It's like Waititi leaned on Hemsworth's admirable humorous talent and forgot that a story is so much cooler to follow when our protagonist demonstrates real weaknesses. And while there is an effort to make Thor a more vulnerable being, Love and Thunder doesn't run away from the MCU tradition of distracting any real emotion with humor, something that, in the context of an assumed comedy, at least makes sense. But the Thunder God's sensitive facet had already taken center stage in his involvement with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and it's nothing new. The hero's arc in Love and Thunder remains on the same teachings that he himself had already acquired alongside Peter Quill – who, incidentally, appears here next to his companions in a bizarrely displaced way, in an initial sequence that seems to have been filmed in another studio and another time.
The film's emotional burden, therefore, rests on the shoulders of Natalie Portman and her new Jane Foster, whose battle arc against cancer and the search for temporary salvation that distracts her from her condition would have everything to deliver the human weight that this universe hasn't seen, perhaps, since Black Panther. But while Jane uses Mjölnir's forces to forget her own reality, Love and Thunder does the same, because it faces difficulties to balance such a serious and real plot with such a braggart context.
But when the movie gets started Thor, Jane, Korg and Valkyrie's trip, Love and Thunder works for its jokes and serves well as a romantic comedy, one filled with good acting choices. Christian Bale is blessed with a good villainous role and actually creates something scarier than usual for the studio (even for the universe that received so much credit for “going into terror” in Doctor Strange 2); and the few glimpses of a friendship between Jane and Valkyrie are quite charismatic. The reunion of Thor and Jane, however, is one that ends up sacrificed by the insistent humor, which doesn't stop to feel the weight that the meeting could have.
It is a conscious decision that, on the other hand, also knows how to work its forces where it wants to deposit them. The selection of Love and Thunder songs is exciting and harmonious and, combined with the colorful and golden look of the production, there is a lot to distract the viewer from the lack of narrative focus. Even when guarding the rainbow in its third act to navigate in a super dark territory, the look here never falls on the traditional MCU flinches, and delivers a beautiful spectacle to see.
In a work that aims, in the first place, to amuse and make you laugh, it is curious how all this is anchored exclusively in Taika Waititi itself. And not because Love and Thunder uses the direction in a humorous way, but because most of the jokes in the film are spoken, and come out of the mouth of Korg, the director's character. It is hard not to understand him as self-centered, putting himself in the position of narrator and main comedic relief in a film in which humor is so important. But the feature works and Love and Thunder is, in fact, a comedy that pays off.
The fact is that Thor's fourth solo film looks like an attention-deficit production, uninterested in prolonging real conversations and rarely choosing to breathe to let its events last longer than mere seconds. That's a pity because seeing Marvel Studios deliver a movie that's less than two hours should be a relief. At the end of the day, the duration ends too long for a film that doesn't want to invest in the plot, and too short for a story that involves reunions, cancer, and the murder of gods.
All this only draws so much attention because Waititi did so well in his first endeavor at Marvel Studios and because Love and Thunder hits the nail on so many aspects. But coming on the heels of Doctor Strange 2, which had already introduced a surprisingly beautiful aesthetic to the MCU, Thor: Love and Thunder ends up haunted by its predecessor and the successes of its own director in Thor Ragnarök. The idea of handing over an exaggerated and cheesy movie as the best hard rock of the 1980s is great – it's a pity that it has set aside the so important melodrama, which has made the genre so unique to these days.
