Discussion

Peter Clews Apr 8, 2011:
There's a difference between "de manera automática" and "de manera automatizada". In the first case, it could be taken as meaning that the lab technicians analyse the data automatically, ie, as a matter of course. In the second case, it is clear that it's the machines that do this automatically. (This ambiguity doesn't appear in LisaMac's ref because of the sentence construction: "The [machine] automatically analyses the ... samples .."). I'd like to get "automated" into this sentence, but "automatedly" sounds horrible, and using "automated" requires changing the sentence round a lot. Maybe something like " visualisation and automated analysis using an optical (fluorescence) microscope".

and carry out an automated analysis of them

I agree with pclews, it is necessary to change the sentence a little...

agree Muriel Vasconcellos : But I would say something like 'submit them for automated analysis' - since the lab technician is not actually performing it

The context appears to indicate simultaneously. Could this be a possibility.
