Vacuum degasser and poor boy degasser is both are degasser in oilfield, there are some differences some maybe confused.
The GN MUD/GAS SEPARATOR (poor boy degasser) consists of a cylindrical pressure vessel in a fixed vertical position. Inside is a series of specially angled baffle plates, stepped from the top to the bottom. When contaminated mud is routed into the separator, it flows downward successively over each plate.

Cum am explicat în secția discuții, termenul din engleză vine de la un
sandviș în formă de submarin sau torpilă, mai lunguieț. Cred că legătura
s-a făcut prin faptul că "poor boy" este mai lunguieț, mai înalt decât separatorul de nămol/gaz prin vidare (vacuum).
În limba română acest fel de separator nu cred că are un jargon anume, numai dacă inventăm noi unul...
Ceea ce se folosește în industrie și la separatoare în special, cele cu "rafturi" pentru separarea prin decantare a solidelor de gaze, sunt aceste "șicane".
"Baffle plate column" de la "poor boy", este "coloana cu șicane" de la noi.
