Onder bolbloementeelt wordt verstaan het telen van bloemen uit bollen door de bloementeler. In één adem worden ook knollen en wortelstokken hieronder begrepen. Vaak wordt ook de term het broeien van bloembollen gebruikt. Helaas niet altijd op een correcte wijze, want broeien betekent slechts het op versnelde wijze in bloei brengen.

"I bulbi di tulipani, giacinti o croco, che avete piantato nella terra, fioriranno in primavera. E se proprio non potete fare a meno di avere un giacinto nel salotto? Si può provare ugualmente a far vegetare alcuni bulbi prima del tempo (il termine tecnico è "forzare i bulbi"), in modo da avere in casa i fiori durante il periodo invernale."
