Relierwerkzeug

German to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering Machining cylinder surfaces
I can't find this term or even the notional verb (relieren) it should be based on. The context is machining engine cylinder surfaces.
Ein möglicher Weg ist das Aufrauen mit einem sogenannten **Relierwerkzeug.**
Solche **Relierwerkzeuge** haben PKD-Schneiden ...

Is this a typo of some sort? It's an original document, so no scanning errors.

profiling tool I suppose you could generally say a profiling tool, without being specific, as from the context a special kind of profile is tooled into the surface.
or ask the client if the term is correct!

Germans translate just about anything... ... so I find it strange that a French word pops up! If you want to "bond" something then "cutting" isn't the way to go,... imo.

"aufrauen" and "relieF" would make more sense...

dovetail bit following on from Kim's input and the term Schwalbenschwanzprofi, which is a dovetail profile, the tool used to form this specific shape is a dovetail bit, creating a profile that will form a tight joint. Hope that helps!

Honing tool

Not much context here, but this sounds very much like roughening a cylinder bore with a honing tool in order to allow a new piston/rings to run in properly. And no, I haven't come across the word either!

Am IWF wurde ein Verfahren und Werkzeug entwickelt, mit dem Zylinderbohrungen durch einen spandenen Prozess aufgeraut werden können. Dieses mechanische Aufrauen ersetzt übliche Strahlverfahren mittels Korund oder Hochdruckwasserstrahl und kann zusammen mit der restlichen mechanischen Bearbeitung (in einer Aufspannung) durchgeführt werden. Der Prozess des mechanischen Aufrauens ist mit einem Feinspindelprozess vergleichbar, bei dem eine spezielle PKD-Schneide zum Einsatz kommt. Durch die definierte Schneidengeometrie wird eine Art Schwalbenschwanzprofil in die Lauffläche eingebracht, die aufgrund der Hinterschneidungen eine exzellente mechanische Verklammerung der thermischen Spritzschicht und somit hohe Schichthaftzugsfestigkeiten gewährleistet.
