Russian term
код (Ж 005 (ОКП)
Russian to English
Law/Patents
Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
Certificate of Conformity
Do I transliterate or leave as is?
And what are the general rules to follow in such cases?
Should such codes and registration numbers be transliterated?
Thank you!

Just the same like with passport, birth certificates, etc.
For example:
"Помимо непосредственно перевода, процесс изготовления иностранного дубликата включает аккуратное перепечатывание цифр (даты рождения, номера паспорта и пр.)."
Перепечатывание - reprinting, not translating or transliterating it.

Note from asker:
I understand what you are saying but this is not the number of the certificate (which I will leave as is) but an abbreviation. It is accompanied by others such as the TN VED and the EKPS, to which I have found many transliterated references. I have also found many references to OKP (Joint Classifier of Products). It's the Ж that is throwing me off. I have no idea what it stands for and have found no English references for it. |
