in the case of a belt-driven pulley, "IN" refers to the direction of the belt moving (running) TOWARD the pulley, which creates a pinch point. On the other side the pulley, as the belt moves away from the pulley, there is no danger of something getting caught between the belt and the pulley.

Dokładnie takie samo pytanie zadałem sobie w pewnym momencie, ale później doszedłem do tego, że (in-running nip point) = (pinch point). IMO in-running to tylko taki dodatek kładący nacisk na to, że taki zgniot może nastąpić na skutek ruchu/dostania się ciała obcego/kończyny do punktu zgniotu.
