Muchas gracias. De todos modos creo que usaré "pomo". En España, picaporte se refiere más al objeto metálico de las puertas exteriores para llamar (es decir, que haría las veces de timbre)

Muchas gracias. De todos modos creo que usaré "pomo". En España, picaporte se refiere más al objeto metálico de las puertas exteriores para llamar (es decir, que haría las veces de timbre)

sacudió violentamente la perilla


Explanation:
wrench da la idea de girar y jalar: el hombre agarra la perilla justo cuando ella ya cerró con llave y es inútil tratar de abrir. Imagínate el movimiento que hace con la perilla de la puerta: en español no encuentro una palabra que dé la idea de jalar y girar a la vez, pero siento que "sacudir" transmite la urgencia y la frustración y la frase mantiene el ritmo de persecusión del texto. (por cierto, para mí también, en español de México, pomo es un frasco: creo que picaporte o perilla es más neutral, aunque esa no sea la pregunta)
