スペックイン appears in various places on Google but I am not grasping the meaning. Does it mean a check to see if the product is in-spec? Or some other meaning? In this context it sounds like some kind of event at a customer.

Cohon そうですね。まず、米国産業財の流通システムからお話ししましょう。産業財の流通チャネルを構成するメンバーのひとつに部品を作る製造業がいます。これをインダストリアルマニュファクチャラーといいます。このマニュファクチャラーの作る部品やデバイス、モジュール等をマニュファクチャラーの代理として、完成品製造業者に営業する活動をレップは行なっています。このマニュファクチャラーの製品を購入する完成品製造業者は、一般的にOEM2と呼ばれています。レップとの関係でいうと、インダストリアルマニュファクチャラーはプリンシパル（=Principal）で、レップがプリンシパルに代わって売り込む先のOEMが顧客(＝Customer)です。顧客とプリンシパル（つまり、OEMとマニュファクチャラー）の間には部品の形や機能、量などに関してギャップがあるわけですが、我々はこのギャップを解消するために、OEMとマニュファクチャラー内のいろいろな関係者に働きかけます。そして、最終的にはOEMの製品の設計図に、認定納入業者（＝approved vendor）としてマニュファクチャラー名と品番を書き加えてもらうわけです。
