The Creatative Concept of My Translation
——A sharp weapon to crack the barriers in technological translation

Translation is a CARRIER. Think about a vehicle, a ship or the handcart used in the ancient times. The operators may never, or are not allowed to know more about the goods entrusted by the clients. Yet they must know how to pack the goods and keep them intact until they get to the destination, in either a couple of days or several weeks or months later. The client knows what the goods are, and the receiver knows how to use it. It may be some sort of oil of 1000kg, and the operator needs to find out the most suitable container to hold it. For the Western medicines or Traditional Chinese herbs, we got to know the way to protect them from being polluted by water or dirty air. When it comes to a precious sword, all we do is to get a nice sheath rather than try to become a fencing master before delivering it to the hand of the receiver.

So, the primary goal of translation is to get a suitable container or packaging for the different things entrusted by the clients. Then, find out the shortest and safest path to make a timely delivery of the ‘goods’ to the receiver at the destination. My translation experience tells me: Translators don’t have to be a pharmacist, a fencing master nor any of the highly professional ones in their specific fields. With a solid foundation of language skills, professional translators may get a satisfied translation by identifying each of the details at all costs. To be an insider of translated materials is good, but casual and not always required. For freelancers, he/she is forced to and capable of taking on different jobs involving the subjects totally irrelevant to each other. The reason is here: they are able to identify the doubts and to confirm the queries in an effectively way. This is mostly beyond the reach of the part-time translators’ awareness.

3. Chemical engineering: Forbo product manuals
Sample:
After the parquet application is fully dried a sanding is required using Forbo Sanding Discs or Bands, grain 36-80. All small cracks are to be filled using forbo 870 Wood Filler or Forbo 8801 Aqua-Wood filler. After approx. 30-60 mins. drying time, a final sanding is to be made by usual method with Forbo Sanding Disc or Forbo Double Sided Spatula until a Satisfactory finish is achieved. The sanded floor has to be fully cleaned from sanding dust, dry and free from any impurities.

The worldwide travel of the ballast water causes concerns about its influence over the environment. When port water is used for ballast tank, the water may contain massive representative organism of the donor ports, which may be seaweed, algae, fish larva, fish, molluscan, or other living organism, various kinds of parasites, bacteria, viruses, etc. When the water is discharged at other ports, these organisms may find their unoccupied niche in the biological system and start to propagate without dangers from natural enemies. It has been known that the foreign plant and animal species have caused serious problems to native ecology. About 7,000 species of marine organisms and microbes are being carried around world attached the hull of ships and in ship's ballast water.

Many pharmaceutical dusts found in OSD facilities are combustible. Operations which generate significant concentrations of combustible dusts will require some form of deflagration protection. Operations where deflagration hazards may exist include milling, dust collection, and fluid bed drying. One pound of dust per 1000 cubic feet of volume is often used as the defining point for a deflagration hazard (by national building codes and insurance company standards). However, the manufacturer should assess each type of dust and operation to determine the level of hazard.
