Source text - English In aggregate, there is an adequate amount of water to support the world population. Nevertheless, there is a significant range in per capita resource distribution. Canada contains 90,000 cubic meters of water per person. In contrast, the Middle East represents the most water-scarce region in the world. Yemen averages less than 200 cubic meters per person, and its population is expected to double by 2025.2 In Asia, most of the region receives 90 percent of its rainfall in less than 100 hours per year because of the monsoon climate.
Water availability and pollution represent a significant obstacle for countries such as China. Industrial and economic growth, particularly in Northern China, has led to the depletion of the Yangtze River. China is currently undertaking a $40–60 billion project to divert water from the Yangtze River’s glacial headwaters in Tibet to the northern provinces. The water transfer of 40 billion cubic meters of water per year will be equivalent to the annual water flow of China’s second longest river, the Yellow River.
Translation - Vietnamese Nhìn chung, chúng ta có đủ lượng nước cần thiết để cung cấp cho dân số thế giới. Tuy nhiên, việc phân bố nguồn nước theo đầu người lại không đồng đều. Nếu như ở Canada mỗi người dân có thể sử dụng tới 90.000 mét khối nước thì ngược lại Trung Đông là một điển hình cho các khu vực khan hiếm nước nhất trên thế giới. Ở Yemen, trung bình mỗi người dân sử dụng dưới 200 mét khối nước trong khi dân số dự kiến sẽ tăng gấp đôi vào năm 2025. Còn ở Châu Á, phần lớn các nước ở khu vực này nhận được 90% lượng mưa hằng năm chỉ trong vòng chưa đầy 100 giờ vì ảnh hưởng của khí hậu gió mùa.
