I am a native
speaker of Czech. My working languages are English (translation and
interpreting) and German (translation). I have worked in the translation
industry since 2014, first in-house as a translator at an audit
and consulting firm, later as a translator and interpreter at an insurance
firm, and also within the Czech public administration. I have been
freelancing since February 2022.
I have wide experience of interpreting Board of
Directors meetings, Supervisory Board meetings and business meetings, as well
as seminars. I offer consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.
Areas of Expertise:
· Law:
I have focused on legal texts from the beginning of my professional career in
2014. In 2019, I was appointed a court translator and interpreter for
Czech and English by the Czech Ministry of Justice. I have interpreted
appointments at the registrar's office, wedding ceremonies
and court hearings. I offer (not only) certified translations of birth,
marriage and death certificates, contracts, general terms and conditions, and
other legal texts. I also provide digitally certified translations
(e-translations) with a qualified electronic signature.
· Business,
finance, accounting: My first job was at an audit and consulting firm. I
translated annual reports, financial statements, and legal texts under the
supervision of experienced senior translators. There, I acquired skills and
knowledge that are useful for my work and that I have extended continuously.
Over the last three years, I have focused on investment-related texts. At first,
I translated mainly marketing texts such as client newsletters on market
developments, economic outlooks, and descriptions of companies in which the
respective funds have invested. Gradually, I started to translate more
specialised texts.
· Insurance:
I have extensive experience with texts on both life and non-life insurance,
risk assessment (ORSA, Solvency II) etc.
· Customs:
I worked for the customs administration for almost five years. I am familiar
with special customs procedures, excise duties, as well as road charges and
tolls.
Education:
I have a
Master's degree in translation and interpreting from the Institute of
Translation Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. I regularly
participate in specialised courses and seminars, e.g., a two-semester course of
legal translation including introduction to law and a seminar on accounting.
Professional
memberships:
I am a
member of the Chamber of Court Interpreters and Court Translators of the Czech
Republic (KST ČR).
