As a freelance interpreter I have worked at
various international exhibitions in Vietnam, for example; World Technopolis
Association (WTA), Vietnam International Machinery Fair, The International
Premium Sourcing Fair in Vietnam, etc. I
am also fortunate enough to work with a Korean-based agency in the translation
of marketing materials for Korean companies looking to branch out to an
international market. Prior to this, I enjoyed a demanding role as a
Transfer Pricing specialist at KPMG Vietnam, advising multinational
corporations in a range of industries.
Relevant parts of the job in relation to translation and interpretation
included:
•
Writing reports in both Vietnamese and English;
with fine attention to detail on points of grammar and punctuation in both
languages. •
Accurate translation of reports from one
language to the other. •
Regularly engaging clients in interviews in both
English and Vietnamese, summarising information either for myself or to relay
onto other team members whose language skills are more limited; and I take
satisfaction in understanding my clients and their operations. •
Working under high pressure and tight time
constraints, including urgent projects involving companies under audit. •
Computer literacy (Microsoft Word; Excel; etc.)
