Source text - English Special patient groups:
• If you have kidney problems, moderate or severe liver problems, you should not take
Pantoprazole tablets for eradication of Helicobacter pylori.
• If you suffer from severe liver problems, you should not take more than one tablet 20mg
pantoprazole a day (for this purpose tablets containing 20mg pantoprazole are available).
• Children below 12 years. These tablets are not recommended for use in children below 12
years.
If you take more Pantoprazole tablets than you should
Contact your doctor or pharmacist. There are no known symptoms of overdose.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
If you get any of the following side effects, stop taking these tablets and tell your doctor
immediately, or contact the casualty department at your nearest hospital:
• Serious allergic reactions (frequency rare):
swelling of the tongue and/or throat, difficulty in swallowing, hives (nettle rash), difficulties
in breathing, allergic facial swelling (Quincke’s oedema/ angioedema), severe dizziness with
very fast heartbeat and heavy sweating.
• Serious skin conditions (frequency not known): blistering of the skin and rapid
deterioration of your general condition, erosion (including slight bleeding) of eyes, nose,
mouth/lips or genitals (Stevens-Johnson-Syndrome, Lyell-Syndrome, Erythema multiforme)
and sensitivity to light.

• Si tiene problemas de riñón o problemas moderados o graves de hígado, se aconseja que
no ingiera comprimidos pantoprazol ya que se elimina la bacteria Helicobacter pylori.
No debe tomar los comprimidos pantoprazol para eliminar la bacteria Helicobacter pylori.
• Si tiene problemas graves de hígado, no debe ingerir más de un comprimido pantoprazol
de 20 mg por día (los comprimidos pantoprazol que contienen 20 mg están disponibles en
otra presentación para la venta).
• Niños menores de 12 años. No se recomienda administrar estos comprimidos en niños
menores de 12 años.
En caso de que ingiera más comprimidos pantoprazol de las que debe: Consulte al médico o
farmacéutico. No se conocen síntomas de sobredosis.
Posibles efectos secundarios
Como todos los medicamentos, pantoprazol puede tener efectos secundarios, a pesar de
que no ocurre en todos los casos.
Si presenta alguno de los siguientes efectos secundarios, suspenda la ingesta y consulte al
médico inmediatamente, o diríjase al servicio de emergencias del hospital más cercano:
• Reacciones alérgicas graves (poca frecuencia):
hinchazón de la lengua o de la garganta, dificultad para tragar, sarpullido (urticaria),
dificultad para respirar, hinchazón alérgica en el rostro (edema de Quincke o angioedema),
mareos intensos con palpitaciones (latidos cardíacos acelerados) y sudoración excesiva.
• Afecciones graves de la piel (frecuencia desconocida): formación de ampollas en la piel y
empeoramiento del estado general (estado de salud general), erosión (incluido con
sangrado leve) de los ojos, la nariz, la boca o los labios o los genitales (síndrome Stevens Johnson, síndrome Lyell, eritema multiforme) y sensibilidad a la luz.
