Initially trained in translating and interpreting I returned to it a few years ago after a successful career in language-teaching. All that marking has made me an excellent proofreader (a role I fulfilled for my school)! British, but a member of a non-English-speaking French family for over 25 years I am fully bilingual and au fait with all the particularities of language which are a part of contemporary life in France and the UK. I live in France but my 25 year old daughter and her Australian cricketer boyfriend in the UK, along with my 29 year old son in New York, keep me up to date with current terminology in 3 variants of English!

I am thorough, a perfectionist, accustomed to working to deadlines and enjoy a challenge. Another aspect of translating that I love is that it affords me the opportunity to find out about all sorts of things when I research a new topic on the net.

I will not quote for a job if I am not able to devote myself fully to the project. Since joining Proz.com I have completed hundrerds of projects of lengths ranging from 50 (!) to 100,000 words on a range of topics - and I am proud that I have never yet delivered a single one later than the agreed date.
