Humanities, travel and marketing/copy translations are my specialty, but I'm open to a wide range of projects. I consider myself a passionate perfectionist: I love what I do and value quality and detail.

My name is Rachel, and I am a translator/ editor getting off the ground as a freelancer. I consider myself to have two homes: Philadelphia, where I was born and raised, and Madrid, when I have spent a total of almost 4 years and currently reside.
As far as my educational background is concerned, I received a B.A. from Wesleyan University in Connecticut in a writing-intensive interdisciplinary program called the "College of Letters," during which time I developed academic writing skills in the fields of literature, history and philosophy.
In 2004 I completed an M.A. with one of the United States' most prestigious universities for the study of languages , Middlebury College. At this point in time I lived in Madrid, successfully passed two translations courses and wrote a number of academic articles in Spanish. Two of these were published in the Middlebury/ New York University journal, La Gaceta Hispánica de Madrid. You can see them on this website under "curso 2003-2004": www.gacetahispanica.com
Upon finishing my degree I returned to Philadelphia to teach Spanish, but decided I preferred writing and translating, so I moved back to Madrid and began to work as a web content and marketing editor for a large language school company. Eventually I became the head editor and this opportunity allow me to accumulate experience writing marketing copy, translating texts from Spanish to English and English to Spanish, writing HTML code, planning websites with the designers, programmers and marketing department, organizing and managing web content, researching keywords for websites, designing monthly newsletters and more.
Recently, in October 2007, I decided to build a translating and editing career as a freelancer. That's where you can find me today, offering translating and editing services of all kinds for the English and Spanish languages! Please check out my résumé/ CV to consult my recent projects and find websites with examples of my work.
