I've worked as an English teacher for 25 years, several years as an administrator and now as e-commerce marketing officer. I hold a Dip. Ed. TESL, B. Ed (TESL) degree with minor in Eng. Lit., M.A. Economics and Education Planning (London) and Dip. in Professional Translation (DBP - 2007). My first exposure to serious translation began in the 1980s and had two translations published in 1992 (Language by Leonard Bloomfield) and 1993 (Field Linguistics by William J. Samarin) both books were published by the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
Currently, I am undertaking a job for developing a e-commerce website for a travel agent company apart from developing e-commerce infrastructures (e-mailing systems etc.). Interestingly, this job complements and takes me deeper into my areas of interest, in particular, web designing (Microsoft Expression, Coffee Cup), photography (which greatly improves my exposure and interest in digital SLR's - I worked with my Olympus E-500), photo editing software (Photoshop C2) and advertisement publishing work (Publisher).
I enjoy baking cakes and breads (you can order online if you wish to!) and read sufism books (wish I get the opportunity to translate one of these books one day, in particular Ibn Arabi's). Heaven's made on earth! |
