I would translate this sentence with "User data should be automatically adapted every new school year". For it is at the beginning of a school year that the computer center knows who is going to attend and teach during a particular school year, right?

Then beginning would be better, in my opinion. At the beginning of each new school year, to be very explicit. Then you've got all bases covered.

You need to define it thus in AE. The years don't change, they begin or end. I assume it's the beginning in this case, could be the end, though

Then try "at the turning of the school year" it's vague enough and hits the meaning at the same time.

That's the problem. I am not sure when they do this - at the beginning or at the end of the school year.

Might be a possible solution to the beginning/end problem - personally I'm not too keen on "turning", since "turning of the year" has more of a poetic than a practical ring to it.

The other two answers seem fine as well, but I think that 'academic' rather than 'school' is more common in education, certainly at the secondary schools in the UK I used to work for.

turn of the year ist der Jahreswechsel, müsste also auch zum Schuljahr passen
