Is there a simple way of entering (in the Trados TagEditor environment) a character whose Unicode code I know?

Using Windows, any software will produce a unicode character from the code by using the shortcut : alt+the unicode code

You're thinking of the old Alt+[0-255] here, that used to be in Windows 3.1 already, but you can actually enter codes with up to five digits (0-65535, iirc) in recent versions of MS Windows.

This is Alt+12312, for example (hope it comes out right):

AFAIK, Unicode is four hexadecimal "digits" (incluidng letters A-F). Generally speaking, you cannot enter those with the left Alt key.

Perhaps there is a way of how to convert the "Unicode hex code" to something I can insert with the left Alt? If yes, I will be happy to learn about it.

Use decimal notation Oct 10, 2005

Well, just use the decimal notation, then!

12312 is the decimal equivalent of 3018 hex, for example.
To convert, you can use the Windows Calculator (calc.exe), which has buttons to toggle between HEX and DEC.

I really did not know that I can simply convert unicode to decimal and enter with left Alt.
