From a user interface evaluation of a TV:

問題点:キー操作ガイドがGUIボタンに見える

動画再生画面で、キー操作ガイドと走行系アイコンのデザイン上の違いが小さいため、両者を混同して「<オプション>機能表示」にフォーカスを移動させて操作しようとしてしまう可能性があります。「<オプション>で機能表示へ」といった文章的なキーガイド表示にする、キーガイド表示部と走行系アイコン表示部を色分けするなどの工夫をすると、より間違いにくくなります。

I saw "running icon" in English, but I am unsure if this is the same thing.

Note that a North American interface uses REW and FWD, not < and >.

Run Icon sounds more like computer term, for consumer electronics Play Icon is better fit.
