postacoutic shadow Yuko-san, the term "postacoutic shadow" itself is not very current in English usage (most Google hits associated with it are not from authoritative sources). Strictly speaking, "postacoustic" should be translated as "後音影" or ”ポスト音影” but neither of these seem valid in Japanese (medical) usage. The basic meaning of "posterior acoustic shadow" is that a shadow (echo signal) is seen upon/after scanning the target (here, the stone) from a posterior *scanning* direction. "post acoustic" or "postacoutstic" is likely a short form or misrepresentation in some scripted medical parlance. Cheers

超音波検査なので、acousticが関係するのは不思議ではないと思いますし、腹部の検査で、胆嚢内にみられていることからacoustic　nerveという可能性はまずないかと思います。

後方音響陰影

acoustic shadowは、超音波を用いた体内組織検査の画像に見られる音響陰影のことです。超音波検査では、体内器官に超音波を反射させるのですが、超音波は障害物（石など）があったりするとエコーが届かず、陰影として写るわけです（音響陰影・増強には、障害物以外にも原因があるようですが、おおまかな説明です）。

postacoustic shadowは「後方音響陰影」にあたると思われます。

Asker noteに対する回答ですが、"On an abdominal sonogram, a hyperechoic band with postacoustic shadow was observed..." という文脈も上記引用（一番下）のp.146-147の表現と近似していますし、ご提示の文章から察する限りでは、"次" または "その後の" という意味での post- では意味が通らないように思います。

neutral Naikei Wong : Fabulous sophistry. I asked only 1 question and got two accusations. First I was being "mistaken", and now ''agressive" and "rude"? It is not about timing, it is about making pretensions and breaking rules.

Obviously, your answer wasn't there when I posted mine. Our post times are the same, which means there could have been just a fraction of a second difference and it's not like it hasn't happened before. Anyway, no need for such aggression and rudeness.
