Translation of clinical trial protocol.

This seems a commonly used term in English to indicate a senior medical figure who works in the context of clinical trials. There are many occurrences in English, but I am unsure of the correct translation into Italian.

Two sentences from the text:

- Patients who are found not to meet the required inclusion/exclusion criteria for the study must be discussed with the **study team physician** or delegate.

- The Investigator can discuss with the **study team physician** before making a judgement.

From my understanding, it appears to be a doctor who does not work in the centre which is running the trial. Rather, they seem to be associated with the research organisation which is coordinating the trial across various hospitals.

Io lo lascerei in inglese. Lavoro da dieci anni con organizzazioni di ricerca medica e devo dire che spesso e volotieri questi titoli sono in inglese, anche per una questione di omogeneità con la terminologia delle case madre farmaceutiche. Se comunque pensi che sia meglio tradurlo, allora opterei per la spiegazione: medico responsabile presso lo sponsor!

Asker: Grazie Laura. Anch'io pendevo per coordinatore, ma il fatto che fosse presso lo sponsor mi creava qualche incertezza sull'esistenza o meno di un termine tecnico alternativo. Sicuramente non è il PI in questo caso.
