Spanish term
epimesogástrico
Spanish to English
Medical
Medical (general)
physical examination - anatomy
In a description of a patient's presenting symptoms:
" ... dolor epimesogástrico de moderada intensidad ...
(The patient was ultimately diagnosed with gallbladder stones.)
What is the standard term for this in English?? I'm thinking of "epigastric" but am not sure if this is specific enough.
Many thanks for your help.

epigastric and periumbilical pain
The "mesogastrio" is the umbilical region. I haven't come across "epimesogástrico" before, but I presume it means pain both in the epigastric area and the center of the abdomen.

Note from asker:
Hi Collana, and thank you very much for your suggestion. I'll disagree with you, however: I did a google search on "epimesogastric" before asking this question, and came up with 121 results ... this to me is not "common" usage, but very infrequent. In addition, when I investigated the first few links, I found that the authors are foreign. That's why I asked "what is the standard term for this in English?". Thank you again for your suggestion, however. |
