English term or phrase: To Have a Bone In One's Leg
This is part of a translation exercise with no context provided. My research tells me this idiom was mainly used in British English during the first half of the XXth C., but seems to be a little old-fashioned nowadays. Concerning its usage, speakers use it as an excuse not to do something. Example:

Explanation:
Creo que esa es la idea. En cuanto a la etimología de la frase no hay mucho de donde aferrarse y literalmente no dice nada ni en inglés ni en español

Notes to answerer
Asker: En español se puede decir que la acción de decir "I have a bone in my leg" es una excusa barata, pero ya sé el significado de la frase en inglés. Lo que necesito es una traducción de la frase que pueda ser utilizada en primera persona. Gracias por la sugerencia, pero necesito algo más concreto.
