Rob, you are of course free to disagree. However, based on the photos I was given of the structure by the client I had to conclude that mezzanine was simply not suitable. The images on google of mezzanine do not match up with what I have. This term is more of a description than an exact term, however it fits. The project manager, who is an English speaking architect, was content with it as was the client. You can disagree, but it is NOT wrong.

Hi everyone! This was a very interesting discussion. Thank you all for your help. In the end, I think Ed's suggestion was the best, but there were some very good arguements made for catwalk and mezzanine, which I may have to use in the future. Thanks again!

I won't make an entry because you would then be in a dilemma - give me points for my insistence on 'walkway' or give Rob points for the word 'mezzanine'? :) I wouldn't go for 'catwalk' though - I'd expect to see Kate Moss strutting her stuff :)

Hi guys, thanks so much for your help. Lisa, you should defientely make a suggestion too! Rob, you have made a good point for mezzanine walkway. Who could have imagined one little term could be so troublesome?! Lisa, I don't know how wide it is exactly. I have a photo but from the angle it doesn't look that wide. I think a mezzanine would be wider.

My concern with using 'mezzanine' is that it implies a 'floor' but here they refer to a 'pasillo', which is more a walkway than a floor.

@ Rachel - Do you know how wide the 'pasillo' is?

You know Rob, I think you have a point there. The project manager pointed out a problem with "overhead walkway" and I think this was it. Perhaps elevated walkway, which is another way of saying catwalk. I think we are on the right track here.

Why can't you use 'overhead walkway' if it is actually above the offices?
