Nesse tipo de cuba o anodo, que recebe o íon sódio não é isolado, pois esse ion imediatamente reage com a água formando a soda caustica enquanto que o catodo, que recebe o cloro, é isolado para possibilitar a recuperação do cloro. O subst.
