in exchange for his/her life Explanation: I am not very clear about the exact meaning of the expression, either. However, I propose this as a neutral translation for the Turkish "hayatina karsilik". I do not believe that anyone's life would be involved in a money transaction of this sort. The most that will happen is that the person would go into jail. Am I missing a point here? |
