In the context of the ovarian cancer patient, I think it's a pituitary hormone.

ФСГ - follicle stimulating hormone
ЛК - luteinizing hormone
And there is a gonadotropin releasing hormone.

Additional Information This patient was undergoing chemotherapy - four cycles with a three week rest between each cycle. Before she goes to the hospital for her chemo, a series of bloodwork tests is ordered. ФЛГ is one of them.

I understand Natalie's explanation about pleurisy in patients with ovarian cancer. But do you see frequently fluorography ordered as a standard test for ovarian cancer patients? Is it a common practice in Russia? Thank you.

FSH is a standard test for patients with ovarian cancer, and a test for ovarian cancer screening. I also looked up "фолликулярный гормон", which is a hormone produced by the ovarian follicles such as estrogen. I found that fluorography is abbreviated in Russian as ФГ (not ФЛГ). To me, FSH seems most logical, but so many people are adamant that this is chest X-ray. Is ФЛГ a common abbreviation for fluorography or chest X-ray in Russian medical documents? Can you explain why this is a chest imaging test? This patient also had CT scan of the chest, abdomen, and the lesser pelvis twice. Thank you very much for your time.

Я тоже сомневаюсь, что это гормоны. Типичная формулировка для рентгенографии. Для гормонов бы показатели написали, а возрастные изменения разве что в скобках бы добавили. Я правда, такого и не встречал вроде бы...

Кимберли, это абсолютно точно флюорография, потому что ФЛГ от даты, значит это исследование, а не гормон. Плюс - какие еще возрастные изменения у гормона. Тут даже спорить не о чем. Это флюорография.

Evgeni, there is no direct context whatsoever surrounding this statement, other than it's one of the items on the list of tests.

The overall context of the document is ovarian cancer.

Pulmonary fluorography is not appropriate here. The closest related test would be hysterosalpingography, but they are not checking patency of the uterus and the tubes.

That's why, I think it's a hormone level test.

As mentioned above by Asker, it is about a pituitary hormone. But it seems to me that both hormones are mentioned here. гормоны гипофиза, фолликулостимулирующий гормон ( ФСГ) и лютеинизирующий гормоном ( ЛГ).

ФЛГ is definitely флюорография, and here is an explanation why is it performed at ovarian cancer:

chest fluoro scan

в данном случае chest добавил исходя из контекста. вообще же флюорография - это изображение на флюоресцентном экране, и не всегда используется для визуализации органов грудной клетки
