French term

premier de série

French to English Marketing Marketing promotional items
Another question from my translation of a contract for promotional items (pharma company). I am pretty certain these are printed items those this is not specified. Premier de série is in fact defined here:

« Premier de série » : première sortie de production d’un Article Promotionnel, servant de contrôle pour valider la conformité d’une production.

Would "first production output sample" be accurate here? Or is there another standard term? I have presumed it refers to a sample rather than the whole output, is this right?

@ Asker I think your own idea is correct, though please do check the glossay, as I'm convinced we've had this term before, and in the earlier discussion, there might have been another term suggested.

first production sample

Note that in many cases, 'série' in effect equates to 'mass-production' — though I don't feel there is any need to add 'mass' here, 'production' alone suffices. Likewise, I see now need to add 'output', since after all, there is no opposiiton with 'input'!

neutral Francois Boye : you translated 'première sortie de production' instead of 'premier de série'

first line of production

if it is a product being put out for test.

disagree Tony M : Thsi sounds curiously like a confusion with 'production line' or 'product line'; either way, i don't believe it is an accepted term in this field.
