I know that "astreinte" has been asked before, but I am really struggling to understand the meaning in this particular context:

Dans la procédure relative à l’organisation de l’astreinte au remplacement du pharmacien responsable (PR), PRO AQP 01 0050/5, applicable le 06/10/20, les modalités de prise d’astreinte ne sont pas décrites explicitement et il n’y a pas de registre permettant de tracer les appels et leurs motifs.

I am post-editing and the machine translation has it translated as a "periodic penalty payment", which doesn't make sense to me. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Asker: Thank you Sue! I knew that "astreinte" can be translated as "on-call, standby, etc.", but I was missing the "system" part of it. So, are you understanding this as a some sort of on-call system that is used to replace/relieve the head pharmacist?
