CROWD CYLINDER. The crowd cylinder is a double-acting cylinder that accepts fluid from the pumps causing retraction or crowding of the crowd frame, depending on the control valve setting.

7. 4-WAY VALVES. Two 4-Way Valves are located on the hydraulic rack at the front of the dolly and are used in conjunction with the pumps to regulate fluid flow and control the crowding and lifting actions. Both valves are identical and interchangeable but have different functions. Counterclockwise rotation of the lift cylinder valve handle (to the LIFT position) will extend the lift cylinder causing the lift plate to raise. Clockwise rotation (to the RETRACT position) will cause the lift plates to lower. Counterclockwise rotation of the crowd cylinder valve handle (to the EXTEND position) will extend the crowd cylinder causing the crowd frame to open up. Clockwise rotation (to the RETRACT position) will cause the crowd frame to crowd the disabled gear. Only one control valve can be used at any one time; therefore, the other must be in the OFF position prior to any pumping operation.

11. RELIEF VALVES. The dolly is equipped with two relief valves. The first is located in the high pressure pump and limits the overall pressure being supplied by the pumps. The second is located under the hydraulic rack and further limits the fluid pressure supplied to the extend side of the crowd cy linder. The latter is painted blue for easy identification. Both relief valves are adjustable."
