I agree with Lance - it definitely has nothing to do with Dawn or Dust!
With only two Chinese characters given, leaves everyone's imagination wide open!
The only time I saw this term used was in a news paper describing the lack of trading activity on a specivic day in the stock market; not a very poetic situation.
As matter of fact, Shang's suggestion - a dull day - will fit this situation also!
