English term

advocate

English to Chinese Other Linguistics Taiwanese Hokkien vocabulary
Hi. I am interested in Taiwanese Hokkien and I would like to know, how do you say, "advocate" in Taiwanese Hokkien?

advocate-a supporter, a person who is in favour (of)
Example: an advocate of reform

I have heard the word used in newspapers and in television in this context.

Please let me know. Thank you.

Sorry for the late response. I think both 主倡者 and 提倡者 will do, after looking up Google. I am not native speaker of Taiwanese, so I'm not sure if it's right. And I believe "Wenjer Leuschel" would be glad to help, since he is a local resident in Taiwan. :-)

Note to Sophie Ao Hello Sophie-is 主倡者,and 提倡者 how you would say "advocate" in Taiwanese? I am a little confused by your response.

查阅Google+台湾地区搜出:advocate - 主倡者,提倡者;[法]辩护人。不过本人是内地的,所以不知道这些用法是否正确。文哲大哥是台湾人,他可以解答。^^
