まず意味ですが、
ひとつのサーバーが、（ファイルサーバ、アプリケーションサーバ、DNSサーバ等々）複数の役割=機能=サービスを提供している環境において、ほとんどの場合、「ユーザーおよびリソース情報」に関しては、ADDSが複数のサービスにまたがって一括で管理している。>>したがって、ひとつのサービス上のユーザーに変更加えたりした場合、他のサービスに影響する場合がある、ということになります。

「サーバーの役割」というのが非常に口語的でありながら、正式なタームであるというのが難しいところですよね。
下記リンクでは、MS公式ページ上で「役割」と「機能」を多少曖昧にしている例を示します。

また、思い切って「AD DS」を主語にしてしまうのもありかと思います。
