In a new communications device's press material, we read:
"Enhances customer service by enabling employees to place or receive calls anywhere in the enterprise, in-turn eliminating annoying overhead pages and long response times."
"The NEW DEVICE eliminates annoying overhead pages by offering the ability to quickly find the right person to respond via one-to-one and walkie-talkie style communications."
Me pregunto si hay una errata que se repite, y se refiere a "pagers" (buscapersonas), o si el concepto es distinto, "páginas superiores" o "páginas generales", por ejemplo la molestia de tener que consultar la lista de encabezamientos del inventario de un comercio...

Overhead
(1) The amount of processing time used by system software, such as the operating system, TP monitor or database manager.
(2) In communications, the additional codes transmitted for control and error checking, which take more time to process.
This may help you to find the actual meaning. I'm thinking in the bunch of data that appears sometimes on a screen to process a task that don't have any meaning to the user.

Estoy asumiendo que se trata de un dispositivo automático de recepción de llamadas telefónicas, esos que contestan diciendo...Se ha comunicado con XXX. Para conectar con ventas marque xxx, servicio al cliente xxx etc..... Si la empresa es grande este mensaje puede ser muy largo, y si no te da la opción deseada tienes que escuchar toda la lista antes de conectar con la operadora y localizar la persona desada. Si existe un aparato así, yo quiero uno! JeJe!
