I'm not sure I need to use the word "legal" since it's already being mentioned that "it's not recognized as being legally valid"

I don't understand why you don't want to use the word "legal" if is states in fact it is "not a legal document". I would think that not including it would in some way affect the translation. I imagine it would be important to convey the idea that the document in question is not legal, that it has no legal validity. Seems to me that it's pretty crucial information. I wouldn't leave it out. Just an opinion!
