French term or phrase: Collectionning
Hi,
The article is about a Moroccan textile leader finding new ways to manufacture and trade now that quotas have been abolished.

I think it is mispelt since I seem to be finding more relevant references for "collectionning".
From what I have been able to gather (including here: http://www.rock-in-chair.com/autresa/affiche.php?id=8¶m=...
it might just be putting together a sample range. What do you think?

Explanation:
Lowest confidence to start with since this is gut feeling off the top of my head.

Looks to me as if by abandoning subcontracting and buying in 100% ready made clothing, retailers (in France) are necessarily abandoning the notion of a "fashion collection" with a common theme, style, colour, etc., or at the very least are delegating that side of the business to the (overseas) manufacturers.

That appears to be the meaning in the site you quote. However it is not clear to me if the person concerned there does a SINGLE collection that he then proceeds to sell to multiple retaileers, or a series of collections, selling each to a different retailer. In the latter case it might well be a "collection of collections" that he parades around the place.

However there are a number of sites (in French, English, and Dutch) where this "collectioning" activity refers to what is done by the BUYER, not the seller/manufacturer. In this case it appears to be a matter of constituting a "fashion collection" that, instead of being created by a single designer, is an amalgam of the "collections" of a number of manufacturers, presumably with a common thread (ha ha).

Thanks so much, Bourth. I believe you are right... I believe they create collections / sample ranges that buyers can then order. Buyer-side "collectioning" is presumably putting together collections from what has been purchased from various manufacturers.
Thanks so much for your help and time on this!
