Susie Morgenstern et sa fille aînée, Aliyah, 16 ans, avaient des rapports souvent difficiles et n'osaient pas en discuter. Pour sortir de ce silence, elles ont eu, un jour, l'idée de raconter par écrit et séparément, avec le plus d'humour possible, leurs disputes, leur amour, leur vie de tous les jours. Et elles en ont fait un livre dont est tiré:"Un matin après départ", un double récit. C'est l'histoire d'un matin chez les Morgenstern. Le père, Aliyah et sa soeur sont partis. La mère reste seule à la maison. Elle prépare un doctorat et elle ne peut travailler tranquillement que le matin, àpres leur départ. Ce jour-là, il faut absolument qu'elle avance dans son travail et quoiqu'elle ait aussi du ménage et des courses à faire, elle décide de s'installer tout de suite à son bureau.

Explanation:
"Un matin apres depart" translates directly as "One morning after parting" but that may not make much sense in Enlish because it was the narrator's family that left, not her. A more idiomatic title for this chapter of the book might be "A Morning Alone" or "A Morning by (or to) Myself" or "Alone One Morning".

Explanation:
Schätze mal, dass es ein literarischer Titel ist, dem Text nach zu entehmen. Es geht um den Morgen, die ganze Familie ist weg, und die Mutter hat endlich Zeit, eine Arbeit zu beenden. Das kann sie nur morgens, wenn alle weg sind. Vielleicht kann man auch sagen, literarisch gesehen, "Morgens, wenn das Haus leer ist".

Explanation:
Es ist schwierig, die elliptische Konstruktion im Französischen genau nachzubauen. Im frz. Titel steht nicht "leur départ" wie später im Text. Um das irgendwie zu zeigen, würde ich das "sind" im Dt. weglassen.

Je trouve la réflexion de "didi" (v. ci-dessus) totalement déplacée, car vous nous donnez un contexte assez large qui nous permet de nous faire une idée de la meilleure traduction. Le manque de contexte est d'ailleurs ce que les traducteurs reprochent le plus aux demandeurs de ce site.

disagree  3 in 1: c'est tout à fait possible sans la virgule, mais le problème c'est que "Weggang" ne sonne pas très allemand, vous voyez "Weggehen" passerait encore mieux...

  -> "Weggang" sonne au contraire eien allemand puisque je l'ai trouvé dans plusieurs journaux. Mais je n'ai rien contre "Weggehen" et vous remercie de votre proposition.
