I could not find a translation for it but found out that this is a term for one of the legal forms of a company in Austria.

This is an excerpt from the text in an application form for an economic grant:

registered company

this is not a 100% proof but 'prot.' ought to mean 'protokollierte', i.e. registered as opposed to companies that are based on a 'Gewerbeanmeldung' (Vocational notification) only
