see below Explanation: The corporate tax burden including trade tax will be lowered to 37-38 per cent on average. "zurückführen": it's a guess, I'm not absolutely sure whether it really means "to lower" here, although it makes sense somehow. However, if the remaining context doesn't help, then I suggest you ask your customer about it. |

tax burden will be lowered to 37/38 % Explanation: zurückführen in this context should mean lower. Just for context: The trade tax in Germany varies from town to town, and can be as high as 20% of income. On top of this come some other taxes, such as VAT (it used to be 16 %, but it was raised to 18% recently, I'm not sure about that because I don't live in Germany any more), and that is of added value, which is higher than income) and income tax ( at least if you're self-employed, I don't know about corporations). So basically, at the moment you are higher than 38 %. |

see below Explanation: "...Die Unternehmensteuerbelastung wird unter Einschluss der Gewerbesteuer auf durchschnittlich 37% bis 38% zurückgeführt..." = "...The company tax burden/load , including trade tax, will be reduced to an average of 37% to 38%..." - Someone once said that "Taxes never come down" but it looks like they finally will here in Germany. Your text is probably about this subject. It is one of the most important news items nowadays. - HTH - Dan |
