German to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Law: Patents, Trademarks, Copyright
German term or phrase: Zweckübertragungslehre
The only context is:
Die Kammer hält es für wahrscheinlich, dass der Antragsstellerin ausschließliche Nutzungsrechte übertragen werden. Das ergibt sich aud der Zweckübertragungslehre.

I found !in dubio pro autore" in the Internet along wiht this term.

English translation:the theory that only those rights necessary for fulfilment of the contract are transferred
Explanation:
I do not think that simply a term, even if it is correct, is likely to be of great use to the reader here. In this type of context I always explain the term in full.

Let's say: "That emerges from the theory that, in case of doubt, only those rights necessary for fulfilment of the contract are transferred."

agree  John Speese: I agree, this is a difficult term and seems to have been invented by Ger. lawyers, googling it in advanced search returns several English hit, and the best they could do is what you did, i.e., use the original term with an explanation.
