Hungarian term

Komision militär nem szabad!

Hungarian to English Art/Literary Military / Defense
Is it a gramatically correct full sentence? If not, what is the literal translation and then the idiomatic meaning?

half-German / half-Hungarian (in a Czech book)

This is a quote from the great book 'Švejk' by Jaroslav Hašek (Jaroslav Hašek: Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka za světové války).

Since I don't speak neither German nor Czech, I can only comment on the short Hungarian portion, which means, "(you/we) must not (do this)!" or "it must not be done" or "it is forbidden" - depending on the context. Unfortunately I only have the book in Hungarian and in English, but perhaps you could ask the Czech colleagues.

Here is the paragraph from the original:

"Stál vzpřímen u výhybky a tvářil se tak vítězoslavně, jako by to bylo jeho dílo, naražení kaprála na výhybku.

Poněvadž byl Maďar, řval po celých kolejích, když přicházeli sem se dívat z ešalonu bataliónu 91. pluku: "Nem szabad! Nem szabad! Komision militär nem szabad!""

HTH :)
