A British native speaker born in the United Kingdom with more than 30 years experience in translation from German into English.
After following a two-year bilingual secretarial course I decided to pursue my passion for languages by relocating to live and work in Germany in 1982. Working as a bilingual secretary for a pharmaceutical research institute in Munich for 19 years and subsequently as a part-time translator for a research institute in Hamburg for a further five years has given me an in-depth knowledge of the life sciences sector.
In order to maintain a healthy work-life balance around my three children, I opted to work from home in 1988. During this time, I reacted to a local need for English by setting up a variety of classes aimed at children and adults that required using very different approaches.
I returned to a full-time career as a professional freelance translator in 2008 and am very happy to have done so.
