Per lungo tempo hanno condiviso passioni, sogni e soprattutto un atteggiamento di sfida nei confronti delle regole della società, tanto radicale quanto moralmente ambiguo.
Un legame forte, costruito nelle notti insonni durante le trasferte al seguito della squadra, partecipando a risse scatenate senza alcun motivo dentro e fuori dagli stadi, devastandosi di alcool e droghe durante le feste organizzate per festeggiare una vittoria o dimenticare una sconfitta.

For a long time they have shared interests, dreams and above all they have had a common outrageous attitude towards the rules of society, a radical as well as ethically misleading behaviour.
A very strong bond of friendship, built up in those sleepless nights during the away matches of their favourite soccer team, while joining wild fights started for no reason inside and outside the stadiums, or while abusing alcohol and drugs during parties organised to celebrate a victory or to forget a defeat.
A period of life that seems to have come to an end when Alex is sentenced to two years ’ imprisonment, after being accused by two undercover policemen of joining a punch-up among hooligans. [..]

In this slim volume, which recently came to light after having lain undisturbed in a drawer since 1969, seven unpublished writings opera by the 27-year-old Adeline Virginia Stephen are revealed to an expectant readership. Expertly edited by David Bradshaw with a Foreword by Doris Lessing and the backing of an innovative publisher to boot this collection of Woolf’s jottings during 1909 should, in theory, have everything needed to ensure a major literary coup. Unfortunately, it is flawed by both the quality and the quantity of the writings within. Woolf would not have intended to publish these little sketches (which Lessing refers to as “five fingers exercises”) any more than a concert pianist would intend their pre-performance scales to be recorded and issued for sale on CD. Dodici mezziquarti formavano infatti la dozzina, la quale costituiva il riferimento numerico di base per i conteggi, anche se a questo metodo di computo si affiancava talora quello della conta per centinaia, che era impiegata soprattutto nelle forniture di grandi quantità di oggetti morfologicamente omogenei e, quindi, riservata soprattutto a quelle destinate agli ospedali, che si componevano di numerosi manufatti eguali, spesso di basso valore unitario.
Poiché, dunque, dodici mezziquarti erano equiparati alla dozzina, per comporre la stessa quantità con la misura superiore - considerata doppia - il quarto, ne occorrevano soltanto sei, mentre la dozzina poteva essere ottenuta anche con ventiquattro metadelle o boccali, essendo i medesimi metà del mezzoquarto. Il conteggio riferiva quindi a questa unità di misura tutte le altre scalature delle forme chiuse: in tal modo “una dozzina” [sottinteso “di mezziquarti”] equivaleva anche a quarantotto mezzette e a novantasei quartucci; contando in terzeruole, che corrispondevano dimensionalmente ad un terzo del boccale, la dozzina risultava invece composta da settantadue unità. [...]The main reference of the computation system used by our potters was the mezzoquarto (half a quarter), equal to 2,28 litres in wine measures and 2,09 litres in olive oil ones. Twelve mezziquarti (half quarters), in fact, formed the dozzina (dozen) which was the basic numerical reference for calculations, even if such a computation method was sometimes used along with the one of the conta per centinaia (counting in hundreds). The latter method was mainly used in the supplies of large quantities of morphologically homogeneous objects and therefore it was kept for supplies to hospitals, which included a lot of identical manufactured items, often of low unit value.
As twelve mezziquarti were equivalent to the dozzina, in order to have the same quantity with the larger measure – considered double – the quarto, only six were necessary, while the dozzina could be also obtained with twenty-four metadelle or boccali (jugs), being those ones half of the mezzoquarto. And indeed to that unit of measurement, the calculation related all other scaled measures of closed forms. In this way, a “dozzina” [implying “of mezziquarti”] was equivalent to forty-eight mezzette (half jugs) and to ninety-six quartucci, (quarters of a litre), too. If counting in terzeruole, instead, which were equivalent in size to one third of the boccale (jug), the dozzina was made up by seventy-two units.
