Sie war vor allem in den angelsaechsischen Laendern beliebt, wo eine strenge Sonntagsheiligung galt, denn mit der biblischen Arche durfte auch an diesem Tage gespielt werden. Die Arche Noah dient nicht nur der religioesen Erziehung. Bis heute lernen Kinder an ihr die Tiere kennen und nach Paaren zaehlen. Und praktisch ist sie auch! Das Archeschiff ist zugleich Verpackung fuer Noah, seine Familie und die Tiere. Deshalb sind neben Nachbildungen der historischen Arche moderne Formen im Spielzeugangebot. Die Archen sind ein anschauliches Beispiel dafuer, wie die Spielzeugproduktion im Erzgebirge organisiert war. Sie beruhte auf den Prinzipien der Heimindustrie, der Arbeitsteilung und des Vertriebes ueber den Spielzeugverleger.
