Source text - English The heads of ghost dragons reared forth from the scarlet medallion. Then, like dogs straining for their master’s hand, they bent forward and vomited incendiary streams. Fire gushed up across the wall, orange and gold in the gloom, swirling down stair and ramp, rolling over men and turning them into shadows.
Screams. Men combusting, burning like autumnal leaves. Thunder upon thunder… Those hiding along the inner wall of the fortifications saw the shadow of battlements flicker, before disappearing in a cloud of smoke and dust.
Within heartbeats, the men packed across the barbican and adjacent walls ceased to exist. Stone cracked, exploded. The gate buckled, and men winced, as though watching knees fold backward. A great hemisphere of dust and debris rolled out and over the sorcerers and their unearthly song.
Translation - French Les têtes de dragons fantomatiques s’élancèrent du médaillon écarlate. Puis, tels des chiens cherchant la main de leur maitre, ils se penchèrent en avant et vomirent un flot de flammes. Le feu se propagea le long du mur, reflets orange et dorés dans le noir, dévalant escalier et rampe dans un tourbillon, engouffrant les hommes et les transformant en ombres.

Source text - English On the Eastern Front, the Tiger II was first used in combat on August 13, 1944, during the attack on the Sandomierz bridgehead near Staszów, Poland. The "Royal Tigers" from the 501st heavy tank battalion were ambushed by the Soviet 53rd Guards Tank Brigade.
During August the 13th and 14th, 12 Tiger II tanks were knocked out, burnt or left by their crews. Three tanks were captured by the Soviet troops in perfect condition.
As the situation got worse for Germany, the Tiger IIs were often used in small numbers, or even individually, as crisis followed crisis. That said, the King Tiger regularly achieved the kill-to-loss ratio above 10 to 1, and sometimes way higher in individual actions. The fact was, there just weren't enough of them. By the end of the war, only around 475 had made it onto the battlefield. May 2, 1945 saw the last Tiger II destroyed in battle near the Spandau Bridge in Berlin.
And so the story of the King Tiger ends. And what a story it was! There could be no doubt at all that this vehicle will go down in the annals of history as a true best of war.

Helping a production company improve the French version of their animation TV series for kids:
Instead of discussing services to provide, we agreed on (and based my fee on) an end-result, so they knew I'd help until we had reached that goal.
I proceeded to identify & list discrepancies between the original English version of the show and its French version.
I briefed the team on my findings (which included issues related to the translation of the scripts, the voice actors cast and their performance) and advised them on the best strategy based on budget and priority levels.
I reworked the scripts to improve what we had agreed on, and created a glossary and instructions for future translators + acted as an advisor on all topics related to this French version.
On top of encountering much more success in France with this new version of their show, the production team used my approach, feedback, and methods as benchmark and best practices to establish processes and guidelines to improve other localized versions.

While I was initially contacted to voice existing content, it quickly became clear the company actually needed someone who could copy edit, localize and voice their tours, and also needed an advisor on certain creative decisions and the production process as a whole.
We agreed on a fee per tour that would cover all services necessary to create and localize content the way the customer wanted, while also granting access to my knowledge & advice whenever needed.
My input allowed to save time and simplify several steps, while giving the tours a unique identity the company has used as branding and whenever pitching their concept (to raise financing, for instance).
