Report from  Heather McCrae
Hello and thank you so much to those of you who made it yesterday to Restaurant Breitengrad! I hope I speak for everyone there when I say we had a great time!

A total of 29 people enjoyed the very tasty Sri Lankan buffet and the lively exchange of knowledge. I spent some time at each table chatting to everyone after we had eaten and the subjects discussed were very varied, from how to start out in translation (several translators there were just starting their careers), networking and information resources, the usual topic of rates.

Pro bono translations for animal sanctuaries was very interesting for me personally as I have two "rescued" dogs and one cat at home :)

I was delighted to welcome visitors from as far away as Cologne and northern Bavaria, with nationalities present from around the world. It was also great to see how everyone managed to talk to just about everybody else who present and plenty of business cards changed hands.

I really enjoyed the entire powwow and I am very glad that I decided to organise it. So keep your eyes peeled for the next powwow! There is sure to be one in 2014 in Hamburg again! For those who couldn't manage to make it, don't despair, I'll be back ;)

Thanks once again for coming and I hope you all enjoyed it as well.
Heather

Dec 6 '13  Ulrike MacKay: Too short! ;-)
What a great afternoon! It\'s been a real pleasure meeting so many colleagues and very interesting to exchange experiences! A more than welcome break from being stuck behind the PC in \"isolation\", and though time flew by too quickly, it was well worth the travel!

Heather, we\'ll stay in touch about \"WE SPEAK ANIMAL\", the network of professional translators providing pro-bono services in support of animal rescue, and I\'m happy to once more invite everybody to join us! Just contact me any time! :-)

Thank you so much, Heather, for taking the initiative to organize this get-together, and also to Fiona for putting me up (or should I say, for putting up with me? ;-) ).

Cheers,
Ulrike
Dec 4 '13  Thomas Gohlke: Danke!

It was so nice to meet some colleagues offline, I hope it becomes a regular meetup!

A big thanks to Heather!!
