I was wondering about this issue... How would you translate Argentinian variety in a Castillian theatre script ?

Into which language? If English, I would suggest Australian English.

Since there are (to my knowledge) no other countries with another version of Italian... Jun 13, 2008

.... How about using Napolean or a Sicilian (or any other distinctive) dialect?

Oops, just a thought - Italian is one of the languages in Switzerland. Is it different from standard Italian? If so, I'd use that.

How would Argentinians speak Italian? Jun 14, 2008

You usually can tell where a foreigner comes from. The main text should be standard Italian and the Argentinian part foreign. If you put in an Italian dialect this would be misleading (Swiss > Switzerland).
Its impossible to do justice to both language-variants in translation.
