German term

Koje

German to English Other Gaming/Video-games/E-sports Computer games room
From a text about a simulation lab for testing computer games.

Reizvoll außerdem: Chill-out in den drei Kojen, die eine etwas andere Spielumgebung bieten

Duden seems to suggest that these are little cosy areas in a bigger room used for a specific purpose. However, they can also be beds or bunks, so I'm not sure whether it's referring to loungers or to specific areas - in which case what to call them!? Booths sounds too clinical.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated...

Chill-out berth

I'd suggest chill-out (or chillout) berth. The original text uses the phrase "chill-out", and I gather that's an important part of the sense of it. Berth also makes sense to me, as it implies a smaller zone within a bigger zone, and also sounds cosy and relaxing.

In terms of how to phrase it, how about transplanting the phrase "chillout", and amending the whole sentence to read "Why not relax in one of the chillout berths" or somesuch.

agree Leanne Evans : yes, or 'chill-out bunk'

agree Dirgis (X) : Kojen as well as berths would be sleeping areas on a boat
