German term

Nativgefäß

German to English Medical Medical (general) cardiology
A patient is having stents implanted in the right coronary artery:
"Stentimplantation Nativgefäß"

I know 'nativ' can mean that it is the patient's own body part, but am not sure how to translate this word here.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

That sounds like a sensible solution.

I think Sue is right In English I don't think we would make the distinction. If it wasn't the patient's own body part, then this would be stated. I just repeated the name of the vessel where the stent was implanted where the German had 'Nativgefäß'.
Dr Sue Levy (X) Jun 5, 2006:
I don't think we make the distinction in English. If you say "coronary vessel", it's assumed it's the patient's original body part. Seems that "Nativgefäss" is sometimes used to distinguish bet. original vessel and graft.
